Historic
character plus a private entrance and bath in every one of the three
guest rooms make this 1880s adobe two blocks from Tombstone's famous
Allen Street a unique bed-and-breakfast.
Once the residence of Elijah Abernathy, Tombstone's first dry good's
grocer, the home was remodeled and enlarged by several owners. Current
owners/innkeepers Darren and Désirée Gregory have
lovingly restored the original 10-room structure, while maintaining
the original walls (nearly 1-1/2 feet thick!), hardwood floors,
ceilings, rose-etched leaded glass windows, and hand-carved woodwork.

Brass,
mahogany, and enameled iron beds, claw-foot tubs, pull-chain commodes,
and other interesting period pieces collected by the Gregorys from
around Cochise County re-create the ambiance of the Old West in
every guest room. A patio acts as a central garden courtyard onto
which the inn's three guest rooms open.
A stone's
throw from the patio a huge cactus garden draws guests, as well
as hundreds of birds and insects that feed on flower nectar. From
the ramada's two wooden swings in the center of the cactus garden,
guests can observe the wildlife and view the surrounding Dragoon
and Huachuca Mountains, all the while enjoying late afternoon complementary
wine, fruit juices, cheese, crackers, and fresh fruit.
The
inn is open all year and is air conditioned. Handicap access to
all guest areas. Guests are not permitted to smoke on the property.
Children 10 years and older are preferred.
